It's been awhile, Instagram. I thought I'd do my end of year recap for 2024- while I wasn't as productive as I've been in years past, I'm very proud of the weaving work I did this year. The linen denim project was so fun and I learned a lot about jea

I spent a week at @weaverscroft with @prayersforwhatis and @accaciamax working on a pattern for the perfect jean for my handwoven linen denim.

Here's the result! @sewingwithspirits called them "date night jeans" which I think is the best
Weaving under a deadline means things come off the loom that much quicker. This thicker linen denim wove up faster than my last warp, since I got about 36 picks per inch, as opposed to ~60.

Now to darn and wash then finally meet the finished cloth.
Now here's some proper denim 👖

I'm really excited about this linen denim!

This striped satin was supposed to be quick - a stash-busting sample, more or less. Then it languished on my loom for months, oops.

I guess nothing is quick when you're weaving at 60 EPI. Plus, I have no plans for this fabric, so I wasn't motivated

I'm feeling really lucky lately to be surrounded by so many people who share an interest in growing fiber. This particular person is extra special, because she is my mother. We finally have compiled a full set of flax tools to process the flax she's
When you stash the half-finished jacket you painstakingly wove and then hated when you sewed it up, only to find it a year (?) later and you finally find the inspiration to make it work, it FEELS like you finished it in a single afternoon.

I'm not used to incorporating color into my design process - I just don't think in colors so much. But achieving green was so satisfying that this might change in the future.

I was hoarding my handspun linen yarn to make something grand out of, something perfect and stunning - and impossible. The power these linen threads hold isn't perfection, not yet. They hold the ability to teach me what I need to work on, what they n
Spinning flax isn't the last step! I'm blown away by the transformations flax goes through over and over on its path to linen cloth. Here are three skeins: one right off the spinning wheel, one that's been scoured by simmering in soda ash and soapy w
I went to Iceland and saw some amazing historic textiles, along with some rugged work wear of years past.

What a stunning country - an unforgiving and elemental landscape shaped by and shaping a rich culture of sheep, fish, and hidden folk.

I brought home an abundance of color after this past week's natural dye class at @sanbornmillsfarm with @saragoodmanfiberstudio

Sara has such a wealth of knowledge which she shares generously and expertly, take a class with her if you have the chan
I have a natural day class next week at @sanbornmillsfarm and this baby is destined for the dye pot! Would this process have been easier if I had dyed the threads before weaving the fabric? Absolutely. But we'll see how it turns out! 👀

Have you ever wanted to look like a cute marshmallow? Me neither, but once I had the idea of a quilted varsity jacket there was no going back.

This was my first time quilting - it was so fun to piece together handwoven scraps for the body of the jac
If only I could leave my handwoven fabric in a nice fat roll of cloth to admire.
